The New Animated Series' Opening Sequence Chose the Incorrect Popular RPG Show Song

The Mighty Nein, the newest animated series from the beloved role-playing group, revealed an exciting opening credits. It features the beloved cast of misfits, misfits, and rogues kicking ass and making their mark, while also hinting at several agonizing personal histories for key figures such as Liam O'Brien's mage Caleb, and another actor's warlock orc, the character Fjord.

All in all, the opening looks stunning. However, I felt that an element was lost in the song choice.

This sequence employs "Welcome to the Continent", a truly stellar composition created by artist the talented musician. This piece originating from the soundtrack album of that title, the second release released by Critical Role Productions LLC's music division their music brand. It's a great sentimental choice, and I suspect that fans of the sequel series will appreciate its inclusion.

Personally, The series' opening doesn't quite capture the hype and energy that accompanied the second campaign's live-play sessions. "Your Turn to Roll", written by singer-songwriter the artist, was an instant classic in my view when it was initially unveiled in that year, and it improved further when cast member the performer added lyrics to the tune for the series' animated intro in the later year.

Featuring vocals from one actress, another performer, Travis Willingham, as well as Riegel himself, the song was memorable and enjoyable. At the time, I hadn't even watched the second campaign at that point, but it was so infectious that I still saved it on my device. It's a song that excites you before you dive into an episode of fantasy hijinks.

The Mighty Nein's intro with "the new song" fails to hit the right notes for me. It's a grand piece of music, but from what I know of the group, I can't help but feel that its mood is a little off.

Of course, the creators has already said that the series will have a few changes and variations from the original live sessions. An adjusted mood for its intro seems to be one of them.

The Mighty Nein will be released on the streaming service from Nov. 19. If you can't wait until then, or want a head start to get to know the characters of Critical Role's Campaign 2, the actual play are available on the audio platform and YouTube.
