Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Has The Club's Backing Following PSV Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's natural for doubts to be asked about his position after another convincing defeat versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth loss in 12 games, marking the team's worst streak since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I have got plenty of support from the top,” the coach stated.

“It's important to reverse this trend and get a victory of course but when you're working as a coach and not doing well then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my situation. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to provide details on his dialogues with the club's leadership, the head coach explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive to the team and for me and those talks happen but they don't phone me constantly of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “In the normal exchanges I sense the trust. But I haven’t spoken to them since this match so far so let’s see.”

Recurring Failings and Squad Reaction

The manager highlighted known failings from his team in their Champions League defeat, namely missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder stated.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don't have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He added, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I’ve seen this club for years.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a phase such as this with outcomes like these.”

He finished, “But we still have that badge on our shirts. And as long as that badge is taken away, we will always compete.”

“We’re going to try to get this team return to its rightful place, show everyone once more what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the greatest side in the planet.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
