Larry Summers Leaves from OpenAI Board
One-time economic leader Larry Summers is leaving the directorate at the ChatGPT creator, just days after a batch of emails between him and notorious criminal the accused trafficker became public.
He commented in a statement that he was "thankful for the opportunity to have participated, enthusiastic about the promise of the enterprise, and anticipate tracking their progress".
The former Harvard president, who formerly led Harvard University, stated on earlier this week that he would be scaling back from public roles due to his relationship with Epstein.

The newly public messages revealed that the official corresponded with the financier until the eve of Epstein's 2019 apprehension for suspected human trafficking of young people.
In another announcement, the technology organization stated it accepted his choice to depart.
"We appreciate his numerous inputs and the perspective he provided to the Board," the organization stated.
Legislative Background
This development comes after the two houses of the US legislature voted on Tuesday to endorse a measure that would require the US justice department to release its documents on Jeffrey Epstein.
The bill will afterward proceed to the administration of the White House for endorsement. The President has stated he intends to endorse the legislation, after changing his view on the matter following pushback from his supporters.

A collection of financier-linked messages made public by the Congressional committee days ago included several high-profile figures in the Epstein's previous network, without implying any legal wrongdoing by those individuals.
The communications revealed that Summers and Epstein regularly had dinners together, with Epstein often seeking to introduce the academic to prominent international personalities.

After the emails were made available with the public, Summers stated he assumed "full responsibility for my ill-advised decision to continue interacting with Mr Epstein".
He further stated that he wanted "to restore faith and mend relationships with the individuals most important to me".

The economist held senior posts under party leaders; serving as economic leader under Bill Clinton, and as head of the economic advisory body under the former leader.
He headed the university from five years and remains a professor there. When stating his withdrawal from public duties recently on Monday, he said he would maintain his teaching commitments.

Following his statement on Monday, the policy organization, a progressive think tank in the capital where Summers was a researcher, verified that he was no longer affiliated with the organization.
He entered the leadership of the AI company, which makes ChatGPT, in 2023 - following a failed attempt to remove its chief executive Sam Altman.
