Pattern of Assaults
Since the beginning of the large-scale conflict in Ukraine, a series of Russian military commanders have been targeted within Moscow.
This latest event comes after other serious incidents, such as:
- General Yaroslav Moskalik was died in a vehicle explosion in Moscow earlier this year.
- General Igor Kirillov died in late 2024 when a explosive placed on a scooter was triggered from afar.
While a Ukrainian source earlier linked Kirillov's death to Ukraine's security service, such claims are rarely publicly admitted as a matter of standard practice.
The war has increasingly seen covert operations reaching into the heart of the Russian capital.
The probe into General Sarvarov's death remains ongoing.
